The Scientists of Kenya Association (SCOKA) and the National Research Fund (NRF) held a stakeholder meeting to discuss potential collaboration and the future of research in Kenya. The meeting, attended by SCOKA's National Chairperson Everlyn Kimanthi and NRF CEO Prof. Dickson Andala, focused on several key areas.
Discussions included potential partnerships for joint funding and engagement with international research organizations. They also explored the creation of an integrated research ecosystem aligned with national development goals. A significant point of discussion was supporting early-career researchers through mentorship programs and targeted funding.
The meeting also addressed "decoding research outputs" by translating research into practical applications, improving public communication of findings, and creating a centralized research database. The meeting concluded with a commitment from both organizations to foster a collaborative environment to support research and innovation in Kenya.
