Science For Society Initiative
The Science for Society Initiative is a proud program of the Scientists of Kenya Association (SCOKA). Our mission is simple but powerful: to make science understandable, relatable, and meaningful for all Kenyans. We believe that research should not stay locked in journals or laboratories. It should reach communities, inspire young minds, and guide decisions that shape our lives and our country. Science affects everything from the food we eat and the health decisions we make to the environment we live in and the technologies we use. At SSI, we work to give science a human voice and ensure that knowledge serves society in practical, positive ways.

Our Mission
To empower scientists, researchers, and young innovators to communicate their work effectively through media, storytelling, and public engagement, making science accessible and relevant to everyone.
Our Approach
We use digital media, storytelling, and partnerships to reach communities across Kenya. We produce content on social media platforms, organize public engagement events, and create educational resources that are simple, fun, and inspiring.
What We Do
We simplify scientific research into content that everyone can understand. We share stories about Kenyan research and innovations and inspire young people to explore science. We also work to counter misinformation and build public trust in evidence-based decisions.

We believe that when scientists engage openly with the public, society becomes more informed, empowered, and ready to use science to create positive change.
We Welcome Partnerships
SSI is open to collaborating with scientists, universities, research institutions, media houses, government agencies, NGOs, and passionate individuals who want to make science more visible and impactful. We believe that by working together, we can create a society where research benefits everyone.
