Yesterday, 19th May 2026, marked a remarkable milestone for the Scientists Of Kenya Association-SCOKA as we successfully hosted the SCOKA Youth Side Event during the STRI For Society Week 2026. The event brought together a vibrant community of young scientists, innovators, founders, researchers, students, policymakers, and changemakers committed to shaping the future of science, innovation, and sustainable development in Kenya and beyond.
We were greatly honored to have the event officially officiated by Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak ,the Principal Secretary from the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation , whose presence and remarks reaffirmed the importance of investing in young people as drivers of research, innovation, and national transformation. The conversations held today highlighted the critical role youth continue to play in building resilient communities, advancing scientific solutions, and influencing policy conversations across different sectors.
The side event created a powerful platform for meaningful dialogue with young founders, innovators, and leaders who are actively creating impact within their communities. Through engaging discussions and shared experiences, participants explored opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, research commercialization, youth inclusion in decision making, and strengthening the science and innovation ecosystem.
As Scientists Of Kenya Association-SCOKA , we remain committed to positioning young scientists and innovators at the center of transformative conversations and action. Today’s success is a reflection of the power of collaboration, shared vision, and the determination of young people to lead change through science and innovation.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all our speakers, panelists, partners, delegates, volunteers, and every participant who contributed to making this event impactful and successful. The future of science and innovation is bright, and the youth are ready to lead it.
