About this initiative
The Girls and Women in Science Initiative is dedicated to mentoring, supporting, empowering, and inspiring girls and young women pursuing STEM education and careers.
Through school visits, mentorship programs, leadership engagements, career guidance sessions, and capacity-building activities, SCOKA works closely with secondary schools, Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions (TVETs), colleges, and universities to encourage girls to confidently pursue opportunities in science, research, technology, engineering, and innovation.
The initiative addresses challenges such as limited mentorship, low representation of women in STEM spaces, and barriers affecting girls’ participation in scientific fields. SCOKA is committed to creating supportive environments where girls and young women can grow academically, professionally, and personally while building confidence to become future scientists, innovators, researchers, and leaders.
