On March 15, 2025, for the first time, Daystar University, a pioneer in innovation within the School of Science, Engineering and Health, will partner with SCOKA, a prominent science sector association championing the advancement of Kenyan scientists to host an inspiring competition for over 100 high schools entitled “Numbers and Beyond: A STEM Challenge for Future Innovators at the Athi River Campus.
This landmark event will bring together high school students from across the Nation for a day of interactive activities, stimulating discussions, and engaging contests. Numbers and beyond will spark curiosity, fuel creativity, and highlight the practical impact of STEM in shaping the future.

Objective:
The primary objective of the event is to:
- Inspire and Motivate: Engage high school students in STEM and ignite their passion for science and technology.
- Skill Development: Offer students an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation.
- Showcase Talent: Provide a platform for students to display their knowledge and potential in real-world scientific applications.
- Encourage Creativity: Foster creativity and ingenuity in applied and pure sciences.
- Future Innovation: Nurture the next generation of innovators, scientists, and leaders in STEM fields.
The event will feature both online and in-person components and a series of STEM challenges that will test students’ abilities in:
- Mathematics: Focused on real-world applications of Pi and engaging mathematical problem-solving competitions.
- Computer Studies: Coding challenges and algorithmic problem-solving competitions to test participants’ programming skills.
- Physics: Design challenges and hands-on tasks that promote practical problem-solving in physics.
- Biology and Chemistry: Opportunities to create models or prototypes aimed at addressing current technological issues and laboratory-based challenges and experiments to test knowledge and creativity in chemical science.
The competition will also include interactive workshops and mentoring sessions, where students will have the opportunity to interact with industry professionals, university professors, and innovators.
