In a groundbreaking collaboration aimed at enhancing science education and opportunities for students in Kenya, the Scientists of Kenya Association (SCOKA) has officially partnered with Maasai Mara University. This significant partnership was established during the Kenya Innovation Week (KIW), which took place from November 25th to 29th, 2024, at The Edge Convention Centre, organized by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA).
The partnership was formalized by Everlyn Kimanthi, the Founder and National Chairperson of SCOKA, and Prof. Simiyu, who oversees Industry and Institutional Partnerships at Maasai Mara University. Together, they are committed to creating pathways for students in the Faculty of Science and Technology, particularly those pursuing scientific disciplines recognized by SCOKA.
Empowering Future Scientists
This collaboration is set to provide invaluable benefits to students at Maasai Mara University. SCOKA aims to enhance the academic experience by offering mentorship programs that will guide and inspire aspiring scientists. Through these initiatives, students will gain insights into the scientific community, develop critical skills, and explore various career opportunities within the field of science.
Furthermore, SCOKA plans to conduct recruitment drives at the university, encouraging students to become active members of the association. This initiative will not only foster a sense of community among budding scientists but also provide networking opportunities with established professionals in the industry.
